BHC Screws - Frequently Asked Questions
Regulatory compliance, supply, compatibility with Satech Systems: find all the information you need
1. Certifications and Compliance
Are the new BHC Screws Regulations-compliant?
The BHC Screws meet the captive Screw requirements of the Machinery Directive and comply with the EN ISO 14120 - 5.3.9 Standard.
What are the specific requirements of EN ISO 14120-5.3.9?
The EN ISO 14120:2015 - 5.3.9 Standard specifies that removable fixed parts of guards must only be detachable with the use of a specific tool. The new BHC Screw requires a dedicated Screwdriver bit provided to authorized operators, ensuring interventions are performed solely by professional installers or maintenance personnel.
2. Technical Features
How does the new Screw differ from the previous version?
The main difference lies in the new hexagonal socket head, replacing the previous hexagonal head. The new Screw is easily installed using a dedicated Screwdriver bit.
What are the advantages of the BHC Screws?
The hexagonal socket head is highly appreciated in various industrial and mechanical sectors for several reasons. Compared to standard head Screws, socket head Screws provide greater precision in torque application and better access in confined spaces. Additionally, the button head profile reduces bulk, making these Screws particularly suitable for applications requiring space optimization compared to protruding head Screws.
3. Compatibility and Specifications
Is it necessary to replace all existing Screws?
No, replacement is not required. The previous "Impact" Screws are still valid in terms of Safety and regulatory compliance. If desired, the new BHC Screws can be purchased through our Quick Form or via your reference Satech person.
Which Systems are compatible with the new Screws?
The new BHC Screws are compatible with 20x100 mesh Panels with 20 mm or 30 mm Frames and with Satech adjustable-angle kits. Specifically, the Screws will be used for all Panel/Post, Panel/Panel, and adjustable-angle connections of the ImpactGuard System, as well as the upper connections and angular junctions of the FastGuard System.
Which sizes are available?
The BHC Screws are available in four sizes to accommodate all configurations, from standard connections to adjustable angles for both 20 mm and 30 mm Panels.
4. Availability and Component Replacement
Can additional Screwdriver bits be ordered?
