Adaptable directly on-site
AdaptaGuard is a robust, easy-to-assemble Perimeter Guard that allows to adapt panel shapes and size directly on-site, thus saving plenty of time in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
Ready for any application
Whether it’s about making a cutout shape in the panel or a last-minute adjustment to its size, all you’ll have to do is cut the mesh and the Guard will be ready for use, with no additional work required.
Unmatched versatility
With its new “Mix & Match” Posts, AdaptaGuard is now compatible with FullSteel sheet metal panels and with transparent sheet ones for full personalization. The new tiltable baseplates with 3 anchoring points reduce the overal installation time required.

Frameless Perimeter Safety Guards: frequently asked questions
What are frameless perimeter safety guards?
Frameless perimeter safety guards are physical guards that enclose hazardous areas around industrial machinery, preventing operator access during operation.
They are classified as "fixed" because removal requires a tool, in compliance with EN ISO 14120. AdaptaGuard is Satech's frameless perimeter safety guard system: panels can be adapted directly on site without specialist equipment.
What is the difference between a fixed guard and an interlocked guard?
The distinction is set out in EN ISO 14120 and depends on how frequently operators need to access the protected area.
A fixed guard is appropriate when access is infrequent and non-routine during normal production: a tool is required to remove it.
An interlocked guard is required when operators need regular access: the door must open without a tool but must be connected to a system that stops the machine before access is possible.
The correct choice must be determined through a Risk Assessment under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
What is the defining requirement for fixed guards?
A fixed guard must not be able to remain in its closed position once the fasteners are removed: screws, bolts and nuts must stay attached to the guard or the machine to prevent them from falling into moving parts or getting lost.
AdaptaGuard meets this requirement through its high-strength technopolymer fixing system, compliant with EN ISO 14120 clause 5.3.9.
What is the impact resistance of AdaptaGuard and when is it sufficient?
AdaptaGuard panels are tested to 1600 J per EN ISO 14120 — well above the normative minimum and suitable for the majority of manufacturing environments with impact risks from mechanical handling.
For environments with higher impact forces, other systems in the Satech range should be evaluated, such as ImpactGuard. The right system must always be determined through a Risk Assessment.
How does AdaptaGuard adapt to irregular layouts or site obstacles?
AdaptaGuard's mesh can be cut directly on site, with no specialist tools needed. This allows panels to be fitted around non-standard layouts, fixed obstacles such as pipes or columns, and angles other than 90°. The post base also allows the system to be tilted to accommodate uneven floors.
What is the minimum installation distance for AdaptaGuard?
The minimum distance between AdaptaGuard and the nearest hazard point is 200 mm, in compliance with EN ISO 13857 (clause 4.2.4.1). This applies to the standard AdaptaGuard configuration with a 28 x 46 mm mesh aperture.
Mesh aperture alone is not enough to define correct guard positioning: EN ISO 13857 also requires the height of the hazard point to be taken into account. A Risk Assessment under EN ISO 12100 is essential to determine guard height and safety distance accurately.
For installations with different configurations or specific requirements, distances must be verified against the EN ISO 13857 tables or with the support of our Technical Office.
Can AdaptaGuard be installed by a single operator?
Yes. AdaptaGuard is designed for single-operator installation.
The frameless panels are light and easy to handle, and the technopolymer brackets simplify assembly. Mix&Match posts (50 mm section, drilled on three sides) are used for doors and accessories.
Components are supplied in labelled kits with assembly instructions included. These are also available on our Assembly Instructions page.
How do I install AdaptaGuard on grating floors or non-drillable metal surfaces?
AdaptaGuard can be installed on special floor types using a floor counter-plate, available in two versions: galvanised for gratings up to 30 mm thick, and weld-on steel for metal surfaces where drilling is not possible or advisable. Both versions are compatible with the system's 50 mm posts.
Further details are available on our accessories and brackets page.
