To avoid any potential contamination, BlueGuard components are all made of high-quality, passivated AISI 304L Stainless Steel. Fastenings come with food contact approved DOMAMID® 6G30FC inserts.
Safe and resistant
The frameless, AISI 304L Stainless Steel panel in 4 mm wire is strenghtened by reinforcing ribs to absorb any impact dynamically. The panel is connected to the U-shaped posts by sturdy captive retained fastenings in accordance with the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive.

Which stainless steel is used for hygienic machine guards in food environments?
For stainless steel hygienic fencing in food, pharmaceutical and chemical environments, we use AISI 304L stainless steel (EN 1.4307) — the low-carbon variant that reduces sensitisation at welding temperatures and improves resistance to intergranular corrosion.
BlueGuard is made entirely from passivated AISI 304L, with TIG welds that fully seal every joint, eliminating bacterial stagnation zones. Connections are designed to EHEDG principles and comply with UNI EN 1672-2 for machinery used in the food industry.
Does BlueGuard withstand repeated washdown cycles with aggressive chemicals?
BlueGuard is tested to withstand over 2000 washdown cycles with major industrial ECOLAB detergents (TOPAZ AC, P3-TOPAX 990, TOPACTIVE DES, P3-TOPAX 66, TOPAX HD, TOPAX MD3), including high-pressure systems.
The AISI 304L stainless steel structure with TIG welds fully sealing every joint, sloped surfaces for drainage, an open structure with no dead zones, and fixings in DOMAMID 6G30FC technopolymer are all developed to Hygienic Design principles, ensuring repeated cleaning cycles do not compromise structural performance.
Is stainless steel safe for direct food contact?
Yes. AISI 304 stainless steel is classified as a food-contact-safe material under EC Regulation 1935/2004. It does not release toxic substances under normal operating conditions.
The finishes comply with hygienic requirements for machinery operating in food environments per UNI EN 1672-2 and EHEDG guidelines.
What should not be used on stainless steel in industrial environments?
Avoid detergents with high concentrations of free chlorides, steel wool or abrasive pads that can trigger contact corrosion, and abrasive products that strip the passivation layer.
Where passivation is damaged by mechanical intervention, it must be restored using a chemical treatment with nitric or citric acid, following the procedures set out in the maintenance plan.
Which hygiene standards apply to machine guards in food environments?
The key reference standards are UNI EN 1672-2 (hygienic requirements for food machinery), EHEDG Doc 8 and Doc 13 (European guidelines for hygienic design) and ISO 14159 (hygiene in machinery design).
BlueGuard is designed in compliance with all of these: crack-free surfaces, drainage-friendly geometry, no stagnation zones. Full compliance documentation is available on request for customers who need to demonstrate conformity.
Does BlueGuard stainless steel hygienic fencing pass impact testing?
Like all Satech perimeter guard systems, BlueGuard stainless steel hygienic fencing is tested for resistance to inside-out impacts using the rigid-body procedure described in Annex C of EN ISO 14120.
The AISI 304L stainless steel structure achieves 600 J impact resistance — approximately 500% above the 115 J normative minimum.
BlueGuard combines this mechanical strength with full compliance with Hygienic Design principles, making it suitable for the standards required in food, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. The design — with sloped surfaces, open structure and floor clearance — meets UNI EN 1672-2 and EHEDG Doc 8 and 13, while maintaining the structural integrity required of a perimeter guard.
Which side should the door handle be fitted when adding access to BlueGuard?
BlueGuard can be completed with dedicated doors in AISI 304L stainless steel. The handle can be fitted on either the left or right side to suit the layout.
The opening direction must comply with normative requirements: the door must open outward from the protected area to allow rapid evacuation, as defined by the Risk Assessment under EN ISO 12100.
How should BlueGuard stainless steel hygienic fencing be cleaned and maintained?
As with all Satech systems, posts and panels should be inspected periodically and any damaged components replaced immediately to maintain effective impact resistance.
Periodic maintenance of perimeter guards is a requirement of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the new Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.

Variable angle
BlueGuard's universal post allows linear (180°) and angular (90°) panel assembly. The variable angle kit is an easy-to-use accessory that allows to join panels at an angle between 20° and 70°.
Post support struts
The post support strut helps reinforcing posts subjected to significant horizontal dynamic loads as well as those placed in critical layout positions. Available for ground fixing as well as for anchoring to machinery with telescopic distance adjustment.
Safety Switch Brackets
Stainless Steel brackets to support Safety Switches. Models compatible with products from leading manufacturers as well as designed upon request.
Tilting baseplate
The new single-anchor point tilting baseplate compensates for any floor slope and allows a tilting of the post up to 10°.
